Mendis guides Sri Lanka to dominant victory over Pakistan
Kusal Mendis remains unbeaten on 87 to secure a comfortable eight-wicket win for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka showcased a clinical batting performance to overcome Pakistan in their latest encounter, successfully chasing down a target of 169. Guided by a masterful display from Kusal Mendis, the side chased the required runs with 17 deliveries remaining and two wickets lost.
Pakistan, batting first, struggled to build significant momentum against the Sri Lankan bowling attack, ultimately finishing their allotted overs at 168 for 8. The total appeared competitive, yet it proved insufficient as the Sri Lankan top order displayed composure throughout the pursuit.
Mendis anchored the innings with an unbeaten 87, ensuring his team reached the target with plenty of breathing room. The victory marks a morale-boosting result for the team, as they effectively neutralized the Pakistan bowlers to seal the game with over two overs to spare. This result highlights a strong finish to the fixture, with the batting unit delivering a comprehensive response to the modest target set earlier in the day.
