Calcutta Challengers posted 207/5 in 13 overs and then bowled Shadow Knights out for 157/8 to win by 50 runs. A huge batting performance built the total: Paul Zomi (56), Akash Ranjan (47), Surajit Mondal (53, retired hurt) and Ashutosh Maurya (24 off 5) all hit at over 200. Shadow Knights made a fight of it through Owais Khan (Shani) and Sovan Naskar, but never got close to the target.

Man of the Match: Akash Ranjan

Akash Ranjan was the all-round standout. With the bat he scored 47 off 21 balls (two fours, five sixes, SR 223.81) to give the innings its early momentum. With the ball, he was the most dangerous bowler on the field, taking 3 wickets for 24 runs in 3 overs (economy 8.00): he dismissed abhishek Ghosh and Aabid Shafi, both caught by Surajit Mondal, and removed Shankar Newtown, caught and bowled, at 8/2 in the second over. A quick 47 and a three-wicket spell is exactly the all-round performance that earns the award.

Paul Zomi and Surajit Mondal Power the Score

Paul Zomi was the top scorer of the innings with 56 off 21 balls, hitting six sixes and two fours and Surajit Mondal followed with 53 off 20 (one four, six sixes) before retiring hurt in the 11th over. Paul also had a single over in the field, conceding 4 runs without a wicket.

Ashutosh Maurya's Late Hitting

Captain Ashutosh Maurya came in at the death and smashed 24 off 5 balls with four sixes at a strike rate of 480.00, before being caught by Ashis off Adnan at 206/5. hamzad had earlier given the innings a fast start with 15 off 8, and Suraj Prahladka and Samrat finished unbeaten on 1* each.

Shadow Knights' Fighting Innings

Shadow Knights had a useful innings, even though they were always behind the rate. Owais Khan (Shani) was the highlight with 46 off 16 balls (three fours and five sixes, SR 287.50), while Sovan Naskar made 31 off 11 (one four, four sixes) and Adnan added 29 off 15 with three sixes. abhishek Ghosh (18 off 14) and Aabid Shafi (12 off 8) gave them early starts before Akash Ranjan's spell broke through.

Bowling Performances

For Calcutta Challengers, Suraj Prahladka bowled tightly for 1/23 in 3 overs (economy 7.67), including the wicket of Joydip pramanick, while Sovandeep Biswas took 2/32 and removed Adnan and Owais Khan. Samrat picked up 2/56, though his spell was expensive. For Shadow Knights, Adnan took 2/8 in one over, Aabid Shafi and Adil each took a wicket, and Adil conceded 55 in his 3 overs.

Looking Ahead

This was a batting-first match that Calcutta Challengers controlled from the start. Akash Ranjan's all-round game set the tone, and Paul Zomi, Surajit Mondal and Ashutosh Maurya gave the innings its power. Shadow Knights can take heart from Owais Khan's 46 and Sovan Naskar's aggressive hitting, but they will need to find more consistency with the ball.
