Atanu's Century Blitz Powers Shapoorji Orcas to 196/5

Sent in to bat, Shapoorji Orcas lost early wickets cheaply — aurangzeb rashid (1) and ABHISHEK KUMAR (10) both fell inside the first two overs, with Golok Bera and Sauvik Chaudhury sharing the early damage. Saif Ali (13) followed soon after, leaving Orcas 25 for 3 and CC firmly on top. Then Atanu walked to the crease and completely rewrote the match.

Batting through to the end of the innings, Atanu smashed an unbeaten 101 off 30 balls, striking 4 fours and 13 sixes at a strike rate of 336.67 — one of the most destructive innings CC have faced all season. Ashutosh Maurya's 92 Off 40 Keeps CC in the Hunt

Chasing a daunting 197, CC lost hamzad (17 off 5, including 2 sixes) early to a sharp catch, but Ashutosh Maurya immediately signalled intent. Anchoring the innings from the second over, the CC captain played with remarkable freedom and control in equal measure, striking 4 fours and 10 sixes in a breathtaking knock of 92 off just 40 balls at a strike rate of 230.00. Golok Bera's Unbeaten Fifty Falls Agonisingly Short

With the equation tightening and partners falling around him, Golok Bera kept swinging. His unbeaten 50 off 26 balls, laced with 1 four and 6 sixes at a strike rate of 192.31, was every bit the equal of his earlier bowling effort with the ball — a genuine all-round performance across both innings. Golam Masud (1) fell in the final over, and with too many runs still needed off too few deliveries, CC closed on 171 for 4 in their 13 overs, coming up 25 runs short of a remarkable chase.

2/41 with the ball, 50* with the bat. Golok Bera's all-round effort simply wasn't enough to overhaul Atanu's masterpiece.

It was a match that had virtually everything — a genuine batting collapse, a one-man century blitz, and a fighting reply built on two outstanding individual knocks. Shapoorji Orcas won it in the end, but Calcutta Challengers leave with plenty of credit for a performance built on Ashutosh Maurya and Golok Bera refusing to give the game up as a contest.
