Calcutta Challengers chased down 136 in just 9.2 overs to beat Rising Stars by 5 wickets with 22 balls to spare, after restricting them to 135/8 in 13 overs. It was a team performance: Tanmay Karmakar took two wickets and hit five sixes, P D finished unbeaten on 32, Akash Ranjan anchored the chase, and Sachin Saroj hit the finishing blows.

Tanmay Karmakar Rebuilds After a Shaky Start

The chase began badly. Captain Ashutosh Maurya (5 off 3) and Raju Akter (7 off 4) were both out by the 2nd over, leaving Calcutta Challengers on 16/2. Tanmay Karmakar then took the game away from Rising Stars, striking 32 off just 12 balls — five sixes at a strike rate of 266.67 — and putting on a 50-run stand with Akash Ranjan before he was bowled by Rishav Dubey at 66/3 in the 5th over.

Akash Ranjan and P D Take Control

Akash Ranjan kept the pace up with 30 off 18 (one four, three sixes) before falling to Abhishek Mandal at 92/4. P D was the constant, hitting an unbeaten 32 off 13 balls (four fours and two sixes, SR 246.15), and Golam Masud added a quick 10 off 5 before being caught at 103/5.

Sachin Saroj Finishes It

With the finish line close, Sachin Saroj closed the chase with an unbeaten 10 off 2 balls — a four and a six — taking Calcutta Challengers to 136/5 in 9.2 overs. Sachin also contributed with the ball earlier in the match, taking 2/25 in 2 overs.

Calcutta Challengers Restrict Rising Stars With the Ball

Rising Stars were never allowed to settle. Satyakam struck twice early, removing Sahdab Khan (caught by P D) and bowling Anuraj Jana for figures of 2/18 in 2 overs. Tanmay Karmakar took 2/27 in 3 overs (economy 9.00, eight dot balls), including the dangerous Suraj Mandal (31 off 14), Sachin Saroj took 2/25, and Golam Masud and P D each took a wicket — P D bowling Rishav Dubey (28 off 13) in a one-over spell that cost just 7 runs. Suraj Prahladka was tight, going for 25 in his 3 overs.

Rising Stars' Notable Performances

For Rising Stars, Suraj Mandal (31 off 14, three fours and two sixes) and Rishav Dubey (28 off 13, one four and three sixes) provided the main impetus, Bishnu Mishra added 23 off 12 and Verma Ji finished unbeaten on 12 off 5 with two sixes. With the ball, Abhishek Mandal took 2/11 in his single over, and Rishav Dubey (1/13, economy 6.50) was the most economical bowler.

Looking Ahead

A complete, balanced win: a disciplined bowling effort restricted Rising Stars to 135, and a flurry of sixes from Tanmay Karmakar, Akash Ranjan, P D and Sachin Saroj ended the chase with more than three overs in hand. Rising Stars will look to bounce back after losing wickets in a cluster late in their innings.
