Calcutta Challengers chased down 176 in 12.5 overs to beat Believers by 5 wickets with 7 balls to spare, in reply to Believers' 175/5 in 13 overs. Sourav smashed an unbeaten century for Believers, but Golok Bera hit 97 in reply, Golam Masud gave the chase its platform, and Debangshu struck two vital blows with the ball in a one-over spell that cost just 4 runs.

Debangshu Turns the Game With the Ball

Believers were 146/3 when Debangshu was handed the ball for the 12th over. He dismissed Avinash Chaubey for a duck (caught by Raju Akter) and then bowled Durgesh Pandey two balls later, conceding only 4 runs in the over (five dot balls, economy 4.00). The two wickets slowed Believers from 146/3 to 150/5, and it was the most economical spell of the match.

Golok Bera Falls Three Short of a Century

After Masud Rana fell early for 13 (b Palash Gain, 24/1 in 2.5 overs), Golam Masud hit 38 off 20 balls (four fours and two sixes) and the pair of Masud and Golok Bera moved the score on to 119/2 in the 9th over. Then it was all Golok. He smashed 97 off 35 balls — five fours and a staggering eleven sixes at a strike rate of 277.14 — before being bowled by Sourav at 166/3 in the 12th over, just three runs short of a century and with the target nearly reached.

Raju Akter, Tanmay Karmakar and Ashutosh Maurya Close It Out

After the loss of Golok, P D (2 off 4) was bowled by Avinash Chaubey at 169/4, and Tanmay Karmakar hit a quick 6 off 2 (one six) before being caught and bowled by Avinash Chaubey at 175/5 with the scores almost level. Captain Ashutosh Maurya (1* off 1) and Raju Akter (4* off 7) were at the crease when the winning runs came in the 13th over.

Sourav's Unbeaten 109 for Believers

For Believers, Sourav played the innings of the day, smashing an unbeaten 109 off 28 balls — eight fours and twelve sixes at a strike rate of 389.29. He came to the crease at 62/3 and added 84 with Ranjan Kumar (6, retired hurt) as the innings accelerated. Suvojit Sarkar contributed 28 off 17 (three fours and a six) and Shubham Jha a patient 12 off 13. With the ball, Sourav also took 2/25 in 3 overs (economy 8.33, including Golok Bera) and Avinash Chaubey took 2/7 in 0.5 overs, the best bowling for Believers.

Calcutta Challengers' Bowlers

Raju Akter was the pick of the bowlers with 2/26 in 2 overs, taking the wickets of Suvojit Sarkar and Shubham Jha, and Tanmay Karmakar removed Palash Gain (1/38). Ashutosh Maurya was economical with 0/28 in 3 overs (economy 9.33, six dot balls), while Sovandeep Biswas went for 36 in his one over against Sourav's onslaught.

Looking Ahead

It was a match of two huge innings, with Sourav's 109 and Golok Bera's 97 both lighting up the ground. In the end, Calcutta Challengers' depth with the bat and Debangshu's decisive one-over spell made the difference. Believers can take heart from Sourav's astonishing century, but it was the Challengers who finished on top.
