Calcutta Challengers held their nerve to beat Under Dogs by 25 runs, posting 159/8 in 13 overs before restricting a fighting Under Dogs reply to 134/7. It was a genuine team effort — Golok Bera earned Man of the Match for a complete all-round display, Debangshu produced the most dramatic passage of the match with the bat and ball in the space of a few overs, and Sauvik Chaudhury and Suraj Prahladka set the tone with the new ball to keep Under Dogs' chase honest throughout.

Golok Bera: 48 With the Bat, Then the Best Figures of the Match

Golok Bera was the difference between a competitive total and a match-winning one. Promoted to number two, he top-scored for Calcutta Challengers with a electric 48 off just 18 balls — four fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 266.67 — giving CC's innings the early momentum it needed after Ashutosh Maurya fell in the first over. He was eventually caught and bowled by Vishal Kumar Jha, but not before dragging the total from 10/1 to 84/3 largely off his own bat.

He wasn't finished. With the ball, Golok returned figures of 3/17 in 3 overs at an economy of 5.67 — comfortably the tightest and most productive spell on either side. He removed Trideep Mondal, Sayan, and Prosen, striking at crucial moments to keep Under Dogs' required rate climbing throughout the chase. Top score with the bat, best figures with the ball — an unambiguous Man of the Match performance.

48 off 18 to set the platform. 3/17 at an economy under 6 to defend it. Golok Bera won this match twice over.

Debangshu: Four Sixes, a First-Ball Wicket, and a Battle With His Own Body

No passage of play in this match was more dramatic than Debangshu's. Walking in with CC at 130/8 and just over an over left to bat, he simply teed off — an unbeaten 34 off 10 balls, four of them sailing over the boundary, at a strike rate of 340. His assault in the final over alone turned a modest 130/8 into a defendable 159/8, arguably the difference between a nervy finish and the comfortable 25-run win CC ultimately recorded.

Handed the ball in Under Dogs' innings, Debangshu made an instant impact — bowling MR. RAJ with the very first delivery of his over, a sharp, early strike that threatened to derail the chase completely. But the effort of his own hitting minutes earlier appeared to catch up with him: he reportedly felt queasy partway through the over, and the remaining deliveries went for runs, with the over finishing at 1/16. Even so, the maths is simple — a first-ball wicket is a first-ball wicket, and the initial breakthrough was exactly what CC needed at that stage of the chase. A finisher with the bat and a wicket-taker with the ball, all in the space of a few overs, despite clearly not being at his physical best.

Four sixes in the last over with the bat. A wicket with the very first ball of his over minutes later — while battling a bout of illness brought on by his own hitting. Debangshu's evening summed up in two passages of play.

Sauvik Chaudhury and Suraj Prahladka Lead the Attack

While Golok Bera and Debangshu grabbed the headlines, it was Sauvik Chaudhury and Suraj Prahladka who set the platform with the new ball. Sauvik finished with 2/31 in 3 overs, removing the dangerous Arijit early and then coming back to dismiss THE ROSS RK caught and bowled — two crucial wickets that repeatedly halted Under Dogs' momentum just as it threatened to build. Suraj Prahladka was tidier still, striking with 1/16 in 2 overs at an economy of 8.00, removing Sourav Sardar to leave Under Dogs 13/2 inside the powerplay. Between the two of them, Under Dogs never had the platform to make a serious fist of the chase.

Piku's Fighting Fifty Not Enough

Under Dogs' reply was in trouble from the start — 13/2 inside two overs, then 34/5 by the fifth — and looked to be heading for a heavy defeat. Captain Piku had other ideas, playing a lone hand of 51 not out off 26 balls (four fours, four sixes, strike rate 196.15) that dragged Under Dogs back into contention, ably supported by Vishal Kumar Jha's 29 off 18 (three sixes) before he retired hurt. The pair added 89 for the sixth wicket, but Golok Bera's and Sauvik Chaudhury's late breakthroughs ensured the chase always stayed just out of reach. Under Dogs finished on 134/7, 25 runs short.
