Calcutta Challengers produced one of their most explosive all-round displays of the season, piling up 226/2 in just 13.0 overs before bowling Shadow Knights out for 158 in 10.4 overs to win by 68 runs. A breathtaking century from Miraj set the platform, and a late three-wicket burst from skipper Ashutosh Maurya — the best bowling performance of the match — slammed the door shut.

Miraj Goes Berserk With a 31-Ball Century

After captain Ashutosh Maurya fell early for 8 (c †Adnan b Joydip pramanick, 10/1 in 1.1 overs), Miraj walked in and took the attack apart. He raced to 102 off just 31 balls — three fours and a staggering 13 sixes — at a strike rate of 329.03, before retiring hurt at 159 in the 10th over. P D was the perfect partner at the other end, smashing 38 off 15 (seven fours and a six) before falling at 123/2 in the 8th over.

Golok Bera and Tanmay Karmakar Finish With a Flourish

With the platform built, Golok Bera (39* off 15, one four, five sixes) and Tanmay Karmakar (33* off 11, one four, four sixes) kept the foot on the pedal to the very end, taking Calcutta Challengers to 226/2 at 17.38 runs an over. Shadow Knights bowled six wides in the innings, and every bowler who bowled at least two overs went for 14 an over or more.

Ashutosh Maurya: Best Bowler of the Match

Defending 226, the Challengers bowlers struck early — Suraj Prahladka removed Adnan and Vivek, and Sovandeep Biswas bowled Sayed Mehedi to leave Shadow Knights at 16/3. But Samir Ahmed hit back with a savage 61 off 16 balls (two fours, eight sixes) and Adil added 33 off 15, dragging the chase to 152/7 and making it uncomfortable.

Then came Ashutosh Maurya. Handed the ball for the 11th over, the skipper removed the dangerous Adil (c Miraj), then Sk Babu Molla (c Tanmay Karmakar), and bowled skipper Aabid Shafi to end the innings — three wickets for 6 runs in 0.4 overs (three dot balls, economy 9.00), the best bowling figures of the match. It was a masterclass in finishing, and it confirmed Ashutosh as the standout bowler of the day.

Support Bowling and Shadow Knights Highlights

Raju Akter took 2/23 in 2 overs (economy 11.50), Sovandeep Biswas took 2/26 and Suraj Prahladka took 2/52, while Debangshu claimed the wicket of Samir Ahmed. For Shadow Knights, Samir Ahmed's 61 off 16 was the knock of their innings, Owais Khan (Shani) finished unbeaten on 20 off 11, and Joydip pramanick (1/43) and Maddy (1/28) picked up the wickets of Ashutosh Maurya and P D respectively.

Looking Ahead

A huge total built on fearless hitting, and a closing spell of calm, clinical bowling: Calcutta Challengers showed both sides of their game in this win. Shadow Knights will take heart from Samir Ahmed's blistering fifty, but on the day the Challengers were simply too powerful.
