Calcutta Challengers posted 183/4 in their 13 overs and beat Thunder Strikers, who finished on 173/8 in their 13 overs, by 10 runs. Paul Zomi was the difference with bat and ball: an 89 off 35 balls with eight sixes, followed by 3/9 in two overs, earned him the Man of the Match award. Yogi Thakur gave Thunder Strikers a late fight with 71 off 20 and nine sixes, but the three wickets Zomi took in the final overs were enough to decide it.

Paul Zomi's 89 Anchors the Calcutta Challengers Total

Calcutta Challengers lost Golok Bera (5) and Deepak Bhosale (18) early, both to Yogi Thakur, leaving them 38/2 after 3.2 overs. Paul Zomi came in at No. 4 and put on 85 for the third wicket with Golam Masud, who was run out for 37 with the score on 123. Zomi then added 54 with Raju Akter before he was bowled by Abdul Rahman at 177/4 in the 12th over. His innings featured six fours and eight sixes at a strike rate of 254.29.

Golam Masud's 37 Off 18 Sets the Tempo

Golam Masud struck six fours and a six in his 37 off 18 balls, a strike rate of 205.56, and his stand with Zomi carried Calcutta Challengers from a shaky start to a total that was always going to be competitive. He was run out by Moly at 123/3 in the 8.5th over. Deepak Bhosale chipped in with 18 off 10, including two sixes.

Yogi Thakur's Nine Sixes Keep Thunder Strikers in the Chase

Yogi Thakur had already taken two wickets with the ball, but he was the most dangerous batter in the Thunder Strikers innings. He hit 71 off 20 balls with nine sixes and two fours, a strike rate of 355.00, before he was bowled by Golok Bera at 105/2 in the 6.4th over. Praveen (20 off 18) and Moly (13 off 6) had given him support, and ROHIT SINGH made 21 off 11 before he was caught by Golam Masud off the bowling of Manoj Kumar D2.

Paul Zomi's Three Wickets Take Thunder Strikers Apart

Zomi returned 2-0-9-3, with seven dot balls and an economy of 4.50. He removed Qamar Khan Cricket (caught by Deepak Bhosale), Sachi (29 off 10, caught by Golok Bera) and Raju Kumar (bowled) to take the final three wickets as Thunder Strikers slid from 148/6 to 173/8. Sachi's 29 off 10 had kept the chase alive, but Zomi's spell at the death was the decisive piece of bowling of the match.

Wickets Shared Across the Attacks

Golok Bera (3-0-35-1) took the wicket of Yogi Thakur, and Manoj Kumar D2 (2-0-26-2) removed Praveen and ROHIT SINGH. Latip Molla (2-0-38-1) dismissed Moly, while Suraj Prahladka (3-0-42-0) went wicketless, conceding 42 runs in his three overs. For Thunder Strikers, Yogi Thakur (3-0-34-2) and Abdul Rahman (3-0-41-1) were the main wicket-takers, with Abdul Rahman also dismissing Zomi.

Looking Ahead

Paul Zomi's 89 and 3/9 gave Calcutta Challengers the decisive edge, and Golam Masud's 37 off 18 laid a strong platform in the middle order. For Thunder Strikers, Yogi Thakur's 71 off 20 with nine sixes was the highlight of the chase, and the 10-run margin will sting after they came so close.
