Calcutta Challengers beat Team SHV by 95 runs in a 13-over match, posting 248/3 and holding Team SHV to 153/4. Paul Zomi was named Man of the Match for 94 off 30 balls with eight fours and nine sixes, six runs short of a century. Hamzad did reach one, hitting 103 off 35 with five fours and twelve sixes, and P D finished 37 not out off 13 before taking a wicket. Satyakam took 2/26 with the new ball. Team SHV's Piyus Gangesaria kept the chase of 249 alive with 92 off 37, hitting eleven fours and six sixes.
Hamzad and Paul Zomi Add 148 After an Early Wicket
Debangshu was out early for 1 off 2, caught by Piyus Gangesaria off Abhishek Lal Jha at 25/1 in 2 overs. Hamzad and Paul Zomi then added 148 for the second wicket in 7.4 overs. Hamzad reached his hundred and was finally caught by Shivam Khandelwal off Agniv at 173/2 in 9.4 overs, having hit 103 off 35 balls with five fours and twelve sixes at a strike rate of 294.29.
Paul Zomi's 94 Off 30 and P D's Late Burst
Paul Zomi struck 94 off 30 (eight fours and nine sixes, SR 313.33) and was run out by Piyus Gangesaria at 238/3 in 12.3 overs, six short of a hundred. He and P D had added 65 for the third wicket in 2.5 overs. P D made 37 not out off 13 (three fours and four sixes, SR 284.62), and Golam Masud was at the other end as Calcutta Challengers finished on 248/3.
It was a tough day for the Team SHV attack. Abhishek Lal Jha took the wicket of Debangshu but went for 1/62 in three overs, with six sixes, five wides and a no-ball, Usman Gazi gave away 52 in two overs with eight sixes, and Piyus Gangesaria conceded 51 in three overs. Agniv was the most economical, with 1/30 in two overs, which still came to 15.00 an over. Calcutta Challengers hit 25 sixes in the innings, and there were 13 extras (11 wides and 2 no-balls).
Satyakam Strikes Early for Calcutta Challengers
Chasing 249, Team SHV lost Usman Gazi (3 off 5, bowled by Satyakam) at 11/1 in 1.4 overs and Saikat Chatterjee (7 off 8, bowled by Satyakam) at 22/2 in 3.1 overs. Satyakam finished with 2/26 in three overs, including seven dot balls and an economy of 8.67. Raju Akter was the tightest of the lot with 0/23 in three overs, six dots and an economy of 7.67.
Piyus Gangesaria's 92 Off 37 Keeps Team SHV Fighting
Piyus Gangesaria then took the attack to Calcutta Challengers, hitting 92 off 37 balls with eleven fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 248.65. With Shivam Khandelwal (14 off 12, retired hurt at 111 in 9 overs) he added 89 in 5.5 overs, and the pair kept Team SHV in the chase at a high rate. Piyus was caught by Paul Zomi off P D at 142/3 in 11.5 overs, in what turned out to be the key breakthrough, and Arunendu Maji (13 off 11) was caught by wicketkeeper Debangshu off captain Ashutosh Maurya at 145/4 in 12.4 overs.
Agniv (2* off 4) and captain Prasenjit Ghosh (8* off 2, two fours) ended on 153/4, 95 runs short. Not everything went Calcutta Challengers' way with the ball. Ashutosh Maurya took 1/46 in three overs, Hamzad went for 19 in his one over, and Golam Masud conceded 25 in two.
