Calcutta Challengers fell short in a tight, low-scoring contest, going down to Royal Fighters by 6 wickets with 2 balls to spare after being restricted to 132/6. Samrat was CC's most impactful bowler, finishing with the best figures of the innings, while Suraj Prahladka and Golok Bera both produced genuine all-round efforts — contributing runs with the bat before backing it up in the field with the ball. It ultimately wasn't enough, with Ajay's explosive 57 doing the bulk of the chasing work for Royal Fighters.

Samrat Bags Three, the Standout Bowling Performance of the Day

With Royal Fighters cruising past 90 for the loss of just Jasmeet Singh (retired hurt), Samrat turned the innings on its head with a burst of three wickets in his spell. He removed the dangerous Ajay for 57 — caught by Golok Bera — just as the chase looked to be running away from CC, then followed up by dismissing Sahil Bhagat (9) and Sankar Bsf (0) in quick succession to briefly drag CC back into the contest. His figures of 3/37 in 2.4 overs were the best returned by either side, even if the cost per over reflected just how well Royal Fighters' top order had middled the ball before he struck.

Three wickets, including the big one — Ajay, set for a match-winning hundred — Samrat single-handedly kept CC in a game that looked gone by the halfway mark of the chase.

Suraj Prahladka: Top-Scorer With the Bat, Tidy With the Ball

Suraj Prahladka was CC's standout with the bat, top-scoring with 33 off 21 balls (three fours, two sixes, SR 157.14) before retiring hurt in the middle overs — a blow that cost CC momentum at a crucial stage of the innings. He then returned with the ball to bowl 2 tidy overs for just 21 runs, going wicketless but keeping Royal Fighters' required rate honest in the field. A genuine two-way contribution in a match CC needed everyone to chip in.

Golok Bera Backs Up a Solid 25 With a Key Wicket

Golok Bera matched Suraj's all-round effort, striking 25 off 16 balls (one four, three sixes, SR 156.25) to help CC recover after the top order stumbled, and was the last recognised batter dismissed as CC closed out their overs at 132/6. With the ball, he struck in the chase too, having Vivek Baluni caught off his own bowling for 1/26 in 3 overs — a wicket that briefly slowed Royal Fighters' charge toward the target.

A Shaky Start Leaves CC Playing Catch-Up

CC's innings never quite found rhythm after a torrid start — Ashutosh Maurya fell for just 7 off 3 in the very first over, and Nasir Uddin Baidya followed soon after for 1, leaving CC 36/2 inside three overs. Masud Rana (25 off 13, SR 192.31) and Ridhwan (28 off 12, SR 233.33) both played crucial hands to rebuild, but with Suraj Prahladka forced to retire hurt and regular wickets falling through the back half, CC could only push their total to 132/6 in the full 13 overs — always likely to be a stiff defence rather than a match-winning total.

Ajay's 57 Does the Damage as Royal Fighters Close It Out

Chasing 133, Royal Fighters were given the perfect platform by Jasmeet Singh, who made 33 off 25 before retiring hurt with the score on 96. Ajay then took the game away from CC almost single-handedly, smashing 57 off just 28 balls — seven fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 203.57 — before falling to Samrat. Even after Samrat's triple-strike briefly threatened a twist, Manoj Kumar D2 settled any nerves with an unbeaten 17 off 6 (two fours, one six, SR 283.33), and captain Kuldeep Mishra was there at the end as Royal Fighters got over the line in 12.4 overs, two balls to spare.
