It wasn't for lack of effort — Sauvik Chaudhury produced the most complete all-round display of the match, finishing unbeaten with the bat and picking up three wickets with the ball, while Nasir Uddin Baidya announced himself with a rapid unbeaten 38 off just 14 balls to drag CC to a defendable total after a middle-overs wobble. In the end, an inspired unbeaten 58 from Vinaay Prabhakar and a brutal six-hitting cameo from Mayukh Ghosh proved just enough for Newtown Knights to get over the line.
Sauvik Chaudhury: The Standout Performer in a Losing Cause
On a night where CC needed contributions from everywhere, Sauvik Chaudhury delivered with both bat and ball. Batting at No. 6, he came to the crease with CC still rebuilding and finished unbeaten on 21 off 12 balls (two sixes, SR 175.00), anchoring the innings alongside Nasir Uddin Baidya through the closing overs.
