Sauvik Does It All — But Hritik's Bowling and Vivek's Blitz Made It a Real Contest

CC won by 6 wickets, yet The Legends' 30/3 stranglehold and Vivek Kumar Singh's 28-off-15 showed exactly why this wasn't a walk in the park

Calcutta Challengers defeated The Legends by 6 wickets, chasing 121 in 12.3 overs. But this was not the comfortable win the margin suggests. The Legends had their moments — a blazing top-order assault, a bowling spell that had CC at 30 for 3, and a captain who held the innings together to the end. Sauvik Chaudhury and Samrat ultimately proved too good with the ball, and Sauvik’s batting fireworks with Hamzad’s steady anchor sealed it — but The Legends pushed hard and deserve their credit.

Vivek Kumar Singh: The Legends Come Out Swinging

The Legends showed immediate intent with the bat. Opener Vivek Kumar Singh set the tone with a punishing 28 off just 15 deliveries — two fours, two sixes, a strike rate of 186.67. He took the attack to Akash Ranjan in the powerplay, and for the opening overs The Legends looked capable of posting a 140-plus total. shubham pandey followed with 18 off 11 (two sixes, SR 163), and captain Manoj Jaiswal kept his cool to finish not out — the hallmark of a captain who refuses to give in. Roni Majumder (20 off 12, two sixes) and Ajit Panda (13 off 11) gave the innings genuine tail, ensuring the total wasn’t quietly surrendered.

Sauvik and Samrat: Ruthless Through the Innings

Despite the fight in The Legends’ batting, Sauvik Chaudhury and Samrat were simply on a different level. Sauvik returned 4/19 in 3 overs — removing Vivek (bowled), Hritik Singh (caught cover), shubham pandey (caught and bowled) and Ajit Panda (bowled). Four dismissals, four different methods, total authority. Samrat matched him: 4/19 in 3 overs with 10 dot balls, removing the middle and lower order through a caught-and-bowled, two catches, and a stumping by †Tanmay Karmakar. Eight wickets between two bowlers. The Legends were bowled out for 120 in 13 overs.

Hritik Singh Puts CC Under Pressure: 30 for 3

Set 121, CC’s chase immediately ran into trouble — and it was The Legends’ bowling that created it. Hritik Singh was outstanding, finishing with 2/28 in 3 overs. He dismissed Vishal Jaiswal (12) early and returned to take Biswajeet Dey (5), while Gaurav Chakraborty (1/22) removed Kunal Gupta (3) in between. CC slipped to 30 for 3 — and at that moment, The Legends were right in the game. Hritik’s pace and Gaurav’s disciplined spin kept the pressure coming from both ends. On another day, those three wickets might have triggered a collapse.

Hritik Singh’s 2/28 had CC reeling at 30/3. The Legends had earned the right to believe. What came next was simply exceptional cricket from Hamzad and Sauvik.

Hamzad: The Anchor Who Never Blinked

Through all the early carnage, Hamzad never lost his head. Opening the batting, he watched three wickets fall around him and refused to be dragged into the chaos. His innings of 31 not out off 29 balls was the innings of calm control the chase needed. He rotated strike, ran hard, picked his moments to attack, and gave nothing away — still there, unbeaten, when the final run was scored.

Sauvik With the Bat: The Match-Winner

When Sauvik Chaudhury walked in at 30 for 3, already having taken four wickets, he could have played cautiously. Instead, he launched into The Legends’ attack with extraordinary aggression — 50 off 24 deliveries, five sixes, three fours, at a strike rate of 208.33. The Hamzad-Sauvik stand was worth 68 runs and completely transformed the chase. Sauvik retired hurt at 98, job done. Miraj (13* off 4 balls, two sixes) and Hamzad closed it out with half an over to spare.
