In The Fifty by Calcutta Challengers (League Matches), Rising Stars beat Elite Eagles XI by 55 runs, scoring 157/5 and then restricting the Eagles to 102/8 after 50 balls each. Sayan was named Man of the Match for an unbeaten 47 off 11 balls with a four and seven sixes (strike rate 427.27), plus 2/21 with the ball. The Eagles had their moments: Raaj Dubey took 2/12 in ten balls, Rony took 2/31, and Abhik hit 19 off 7 with three sixes in the chase.
Raaj Dubey and Rony Put Rising Stars at 71/5
Rising Stars did not start well. Ankur Singh (6 off 3) was caught by Rajbir off Riju Dey at 6/1, and Ayush Pathak (6 off 2) was caught by substitute fielder Rocky off Raaj Dubey at 14/2. Captain Himanish Singh made 21 off 8 with three sixes before he was caught by Ayush off Rony at 45/3 after 19 balls, and Toxic (9 off 9) fell to Raaj Dubey, caught by Debu, at 52/4.
Jr. Sandip then hit 23 off 6 with a four and three sixes, but he was caught by Rajbir off Rony at 71/5 after 29 balls. Raaj Dubey bowled ten balls for 12 runs with five dots and two wickets, the best figures of the match, and Rony took 2/31.
Ghanshyam and Sayan Add an Unbroken 86
From 71/5, Ghanshyam and Sayan played a very different game. Ghanshyam hit 37 not out off 11 with a four and five sixes (strike rate 336.36), and Sayan 47 not out off 11 with a four and seven sixes, adding an unbroken 86 to take Rising Stars to 157/5. Their innings contained 21 sixes and only three fours, and the Eagles' bowlers gave away 8 extras (6 wides and 2 leg byes).
It was a costly end for the rest of the Elite Eagles attack. Abhik went for 37 in ten balls (five sixes), Riju Dey for 33 with five sixes and Ajit Naskar for 25 in five balls (four sixes), while Deep Mondal kept it to 17 in five balls. Riju Dey did take the wicket of Ankur Singh.
Himanish Singh Strikes Twice in the First Five Balls
Chasing 158, Elite Eagles XI were in trouble almost immediately. Captain Himanish Singh had Rony (1 off 2) caught by Sayan at 5/1 after 4 balls and Riju Dey (0 off 1) caught by Faiz at 5/2 after 5 balls. Himanish finished with 2/13 in ten balls with five dots, and the Eagles never recovered the early pace.
Sayan struck again at 24/3 (18 balls), when Deep Mondal (15 off 8, two sixes) was caught by Toxic, and had Debu (10 off 3, a four and a six) caught by Himanish Singh at 35/4 after 20 balls. He finished with 2/21 in ten balls with four dots, along with the catch that removed Rony.
Eagles Fight on Through the Middle Overs
Elite Eagles did not give up. Captain Devraj Ghosh made 11 off 11 before he was caught by Faiz off Ayush Pathak at 53/5 after 27 balls, Rajbir hit 12 off 4 with a four and a six before he was run out by Krishna and Toxic at 56/6 after 31 balls, and Raaj Dubey (0 off 6) was caught by Toxic off Debangshu at 61/7 after 34 balls.
Abhik was the main source of runs with 19 off 7 and three sixes, until he was caught by Kamran off Krishna at 91/8 after 43 balls. Rocky (9 not out off 6) and Ayush (9 not out off 5, a six) stayed unbeaten, taking the Eagles to 102/8. Rising Stars' bowling was tight throughout: Debangshu took 1/12 in ten balls, Ayush Pathak took 1/17 with six dots, and Krishna took 1/30 and a run out. The Eagles' innings included 16 extras (4 wides, 3 no-balls, 5 leg byes and 4 byes), and the match produced 31 sixes in all.
